Q-What is your background in photography?
I began my love of photography in college where I picked up a camera for our college newspaper. I have had a camera in my hand ever since and have photographed a wide variety of subjects (from sports to portraits). After college I spent a few years working at Penn State University doing genetic research.
From there I came to Salisbury and worked for 10 years directing the Salisbury chapter of Young Life (an outreach ministry to high school and middle school kids). I still serve as a volunteer leader. I have an extensive background in sports, portraits, and weddings (tending towards the photojournalistic or lifestyle side of photography). When not doing photography I enjoy camping and hiking, spending time with my sons, and competing in multi-sport events like triathlons and duathons. I live in Salisbury, MD with my wife of 8yrs and our two sons.
Q-Can you describe your philosophy of how you approach your photography?
I believe that every one of us is a wonder, and that we each have a grand story to tell. I also believe that photography is a great media to capture the personality and the story of each person. There is power in a still image which can retell a person's story as we cherish the memories evoked by such an image. We do not place people into molds and we do not have a cookie cutter approach to our photography. Each person that we run into and serve with this art form is unique and deserves to have a wonderful experience with our studio, regardless of the genre of photographic services we provide. We believe that you deserve the best service and that you will not simply be a customer, but part of the James Seip Photography family.
Q-Can you describe your style of photography?
Many people have remarked about our style of photography over the years and a few things stand out to us. Our senior photography is natural, vibrant, and winsome. Our wedding photography is warm, fun, and timeless. Our sports photography is unlike anything you have ever seen; energetic, full of action and powerful. We are personable and easy to work with. We strive to know your wishes when it comes to your photography and we will work together with you to achieve great results. Our style of service is that we are serving good friends who have a great story to tell, together we will tell it through our photography. Our studio and our service is warm, personal, and each session is considered a collaboration to produce something beautiful and lasting.
